Sustainable - Strategic - United Prayer for Whatcom County

MAY/JUNE 2024

Praise and Worship – John 1:14 and 17:1-3 
“So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” 
— “After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son so He can give glory back to You. For you have given Him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one You have given him. And this is the way to have eternal life—to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the One You sent to earth.’” 
  • I encourage you to read/pray all of Jesus’ prayer (John 17) 
  • Jesus’ focus was the Father’s Glory. The Father’s focus was to reveal the glory of His Son. As you pray today keep in mind your prayer focus is to glorify the Father. John 17:4 says, “I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.” As you pray for our county and the world you are doing the work God gave you to do – And HE is GLORIFIED! 
  • The Father is glorified when His people love each other and walk in unity.  As you pray through this prayer guide along with several other churches in Whatcom County you are participating in – and becoming the answer to Jesus’ prayer that we would “walk together in unity. “ 
 
Pray for your neighborhood – your Family, your Church, your City, your Schools. 
Pray for the unique setting your church has as a part of the body of Christ. Pray that your local part of the body of Christ will seek in every setting to be a reflection of HIS GLORY. 
 
Praying for Whatcom County & the World 
Art/Media 1 Corinthians 12:27 – Now you are the body of Christ and individually members. 
Father reveal Your Glory in Art and Media as we pray for: 
  • people to move from electronic superficial relationships to significant personal connections. 
  • the Praise 106.5 effort to encourage prayer in our area through the 100 Days of Prayer, beginning on May 17. Details are at the end of the prayer guide. 
 
Business Proverbs 11:2 – When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. 
Father reveal Your Glory in Business as we pray for: 
  • job creation in business to offset unemployment (Whatcom County is up to 6.5%, WA State is 4.7%). 
  • implementation of the new Health Children’s Fund (tax money that is supposed to help families with childcare) which will impact local businesses. 
  • God’s Kingdom vision to be central in Whatcom County’s 10-year Comprehensive Plan update. 
  • God’s wisdom in decisions about County water rights / water adjudication that will affect farmers. 
 
Church Ephesians 4:11-13 – And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God. 
Father reveal Your Glory in Your Church as we pray for: 
  • the churches that need worship leaders. 
  • the integration of new people into the life of the church. 
  • needed small group leaders and mentors. 
 
Development  James 1:27 – Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans & widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. 
Father reveal Your Glory in Social Services as we pray for: 
  • healing hands and hearts in church recovery groups to reach out to neighbors whose families have been rocked by the drug crisis.   
  • drug-related recovery groups for parents/family who have been overwhelmed by an overdose or suicide. 
  • children suffering due to their drug-addicted parents. 
 
Education Romans 5:1-5 (please read all of 1-5) …because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. 
Father reveal Your Glory in our schools as we pray for: 
  • teachers, Admin & staff to be filled with God’s love for kids from every possible background. 
  • educators to have perseverance and endurance. 
 
Family   Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment.  
Father reveal Your Glory in our families as we pray for: 
  • …a part-time a director of the Love Life sidewalk ministry and protection over the sidewalk ministers and families. 
  • …wisdom as Whatcom County Pregnancy Center (WCPC) walks with an uptick of assault victims coming to the clinic – some pregnant and choosing life, some choosing abortion and others not pregnant.  
  • …the new facility for WCPC permitting details etc. 
  • …the safety and viability of the unborn babies of two moms with high-risk pregnancies complicated by domestic violence who are involved with New Way ministry trauma recovery programs. May their hearts be open to Jesus. 
 
Government 1 Timothy 2:1-2 – I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 
Father reveal Your Glory in our government as we pray James 1:5-8 
  • for county executive and council by name 
  • Pray for your mayor and city council by name 
  • (see websites below for names) 
 
Health Romans 12:10 – Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 
Father reveal Your Glory in our Heath care workers as we pray that: 
  • our health care workers will treat each other and their patients as people who bear the image of Christ Himself. Much healing happens from the loving and listening of caring people.   
  • each person in health care will have ‘times of refreshing’ of their spirit this season. 
 
International Missions/Israel/Native Americans  
Father reveal Your Glory through Missions as we pray for: 
  • the Global Day of Prayer for the Jewish World, joining with over 100 million believers from around the world to pray on May 19. (Prayer guide and connection info below) 
  • God’s intervention so that the elections in India do not result in a rewritten constitution making India a Hindu nation, which would make life even more difficult for Christians. Pray with Project92 that God will give grace, courage, and boldness to his people, and that his purposes will continue to be realized. Proverbs 21:1  
  • the summer worship camp in Israel with 300+ Jewish, Arab and Palestinian young adults that will focus on exalting Yeshua (Jesus). Pray for protection, and for them to be able to go home as anointed peacemakers in the Name of Jesus.
