Whatcom County Prayer Guide

Day2Pray

Strategic – United – Sustainable

Praying around the throne, around the clock and

around the county

September-October 2026

35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:35-38 (emphasis mine)

Let us celebrate with all those who came into saving faith in Jesus during the Fair in Lynden (about 1000) and the 2000 who received Bibles! Hallelujah! In the verse above, Jesus was going about proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom. As He did this His heart of compassion was continually stirred and He said to His disciples (us), ‘Pray for more harvesters!’ As I have called around to people in our different areas of focus this is a consistent message – we need more believers who will live out the life of faith in our area. So for Sept/Oct let’s join and ask the LORD of the HARVEST for MORE HARVESTERS here in Whatcom County.

Please note the sense of urgency in Jesus words as chosen by the translators for different versions of the Bible: PLEAD, PRAY EARNESTLY, BESEECH, ASK – as they try to capture what Jesus was saying and feeling. His compassion creates His urgency! Ask with intensity, even desperation, for the Lord to send more harvesters! Let us join our Lord in His prayer for our neighbors.

Pray for your neighborhood – your Family, Church, Schools.

Let’s join as families in praying for and reaching out to our neighbors.

Ask the Lord to bring Harvest to the churches, schools, businesses in your neighborhoods, that His Name would be above all other concerns.

Praying for Whatcom County

Art & Media

Father send the Spirit of truth to live within us and guide our understanding. When the world cannot recognize You, give us quiet assurance of Your presence. Change the atmosphere in our streets and in the homes of our community. Let it take on flesh in ordinary relationships marked by grace.

Business

Father, raise up leaders in business who ask thoughtful questions and help others hear from You. From owners and managers to employees give patience to strengthen and encourage others. As we pray and watch for Your direction, guide us by Your Spirit. Give each one the quiet confidence to follow Your lead, one faithful step at a time.

Church

Pray for the church of Whatcom County to worship with all their being. Here is one pastor’s definition of worship: “Whole-life declaration and expression of the wonder and worth of God, no matter the cost!” Pray that the church would rise up and engage with the Lord in His mission and focus of reaching our community. Lord awaken your army for your mission!

Development

Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” As our sisters and brothers in the non-profits seek to serve the great variety of needs in our community, let us as the church lift them up and encourage them to open their eyes to see, ears to hear and obey the Word of God. Father give wisdom to know how to point to You during each of the challenging or desperate situations our friends encounter.

Education

Let educators who believe receive the Holy Spirit as Jesus promised. Make the reality of His risen life evident in their words and relationships.

Please pray: 1- new students to be connected to caring adults, 2- all students to have positive friends and 3- for youth groups and ministries like Child Evangelism Fellowship, FCA, Young Life and others to be the light of Christ and invite many to know Jesus personally.

First Responders

As those who are in Development respond to people’s long-term needs, First Responders deal with emergencies. Pray that each believer will be able to take care of the immediate concern and at the same time plant seeds of hope in the gospel with their words and care. Let first responders know the joy of being useful in Your hands.

And among the first responders themselves pray for strong marriages. Pray for Godly priorities in each life and pray for selflessness in families.

Government

Let’s join together asking the Lord for GUIDANCE for every level of government, compassion for those experiencing natural disasters here and around the world, and wisdom for how to bring the love of Christ into settings of conflict.

Let the Spirit of truth live within each believer in government and guide their understanding. Where the surrounding world cannot recognize Your work, give each one the assurance of Your presence.

Health Care

Father provide believers in all levels of health care to speak what is true under the guidance of Your Spirit. Keep their words anchored in Scripture and shaped by love for the people who hear them.

Also ask the Lord of the Harvest for 100 new doctors who are committed to Jesus in Whatcom County. Ask for 300 believing medical students that pursue health care careers.

Praying for the World

International Missions

Great Commission

Project 92 (P92) – “Pray for outreach efforts to Muslims in South Asia. Pray that God will open their eyes to the truth that Jesus is not just a prophet, but that He is the Son of God, and that God will draw many people to Him! (John 6:44)”

Israel

As we prepare for the Global Day of Prayer for Israel and the Jewish peoples (Check out the details on www.110cities.com), let’s pray for the Holy Spirit to go ahead of the harvesters and prepare hearts of Jewish people all over the world that their eyes would be open to Jesus the Messiah.

Native Americans

Pray for the witnesses who will bring the gospel of HOPE to whole families. Several times in the NT whole families were baptized. Ask the Lord of the Harvest to reach Native families with the hope of eternity.
